This very weekend, the Weardale Railway has resumed its passenger service connecting to the mainline. The service was withdrawn in 1953.
So now, for visitors to our B&B, we're only a short 10 minute bus ride from a mainline rail link at Stanhope. Most excitingly of all, some of that link is steam hauled!

Great, good for business, good for the environment. Everyone wins! I love train travel. Off for another meeting in Newcastle tomorrow so train from Hexham, is it childish to get so excited about a simple journey that hundreds of people make every day?
ReplyDeleteWell I get excited about travelling on trains too. I have to go down to London in a couple of weeks and am so looking forward to it!
