Sheep, wool - what more can anyone ask for?

We're getting ready for the Wool Trail at the weekend.  There will be woolly goings on at Eden Gotlands and Highside Farm and here at Slack House Farm, where we have a small exhibition of felt, dyed wools and even a few paintings.  Ruth Hicken from Textiles through Time will be dyeing using natural dyes, I'll be making feltmaking and peg loom weaving.  There'll be an opportunity to buy various carded wools, dyed yarns etc.  And don't forget that there will be tea and cake!

For anyone who can't make this do remember to enter the North Pennines Wool Group Gansey competition.  You really don't need to be a knitter to do this - you just need to be able to hold a pencil!

We haven't seen any sheep here for a while, so here's a photo of a mixed flock - not mine, alas, but a very interesting flock to plunder for fleeces!
